Woodthorpe After School Club


Who is the After School Club for?  Any child in the local area aged 4-11 years. As we are situated with in Woodthorpe we are an especially useful service to working parents and those on training who wish for there child to attend supervised provision straight after school.
Will my child receive refreshments in the After-School Club?  Yes! We provide drinks throughout the session and we are promoting healthy snacks. Please inform us at registration if your child has any dietary requirements or specific dislikes.

When is the After School Club open?  After School Club currently operates Monday to Friday 3.00pm—6.00pmWe are interested in meeting our client’s needs. We may consider offering holiday play care, subject to demand.

Can the After School Club care for my child who has special needs?  The After School Staff are qualified at NVQ level 3 in Play work and have considerable experience with children who have additional needs; they will make every effort to meet any special requirements your child may have. Please discuss these with the After School Co-coordinator at Registration.

Can I help in the After School Club?  Yes! We are happy to have additional help; you will be required to complete necessary police checks in line with OFSTED procedure. Please speak to the After School Co-coordinator if you are interested.

How much will it cost?  We have a sliding scale of payments, including a reduction for a second child. You will make an agreement of daily/weekly or monthly payments. At enrolment. We accept payment by childcare tax credits. We now have Hourly rate which means your child can attend either 3-4, 4-5, 5-6 or all three hours.

How do I enroll my child?  That’s easy!!! Just contact the After School Co-ordinator to make arrangements. You will be asked to provide some basic information about your child in order to ensure their well being. E.g. contacts, medical conditions etc. We aim to provide a flexible service children can be booked into the group for single days or weekly bookings. Places must be booked in advance.

How is the After School Club monitored?  Our group is monitored by OFSTED on a regular basis. As a member of the O.S.N (Out of School Network) and SCCN (Sheffield Community Childcare Network) the After School Club is committed to providing the highest of care learning and play for your child.

What if my child is sick?  You are asked to keep you child at home if they have any infections and to notify the After School Club of this. Please don’t allow your child to return until 48 hours after the last attack of vomiting or diarrhoea. 

How do I make a complaint?  Your views are valued and an important part of working to improve our service is through your feedback. Initially complaints should be made to the club Co-coordinator. Alternatively you can contact the After School Club Co-ordinator on 0114 2654165.

How will my child benefit?  By learning new skills and developing existing ones such as communication, building relationships and playing with other children. The club provides a range of activities that appeal to children across the age range. The views of the children are sought in relation to activities they would like to do or have enjoyed doing, through feedback box’s comments book and talking to the children. These views are included when the staff plan activities.
